I am the proud mother of two beautiful young ladies, Imani, an elementary teacher and Nia, a college student. Education has been a focal point in our family, and they serve as the foundation of the work I get to do as an educator.

My career in education spans 19 years holding such positions as Assistant High School Principal, Associate High School Principal, Middle School Principal, High School Principal, Executive Director, Assistant Superintendent, Chief of Staff and now Superintendent of Schools.

I accepted my first principalship at the middle school level as the Principal of Ridgeview Middle School. With hard work and dedication, I was provided a unique opportunity to serve as a High School Principal in Leander ISD where I was the first African-American principal in the history of the district. For the next three years, our campus never fell below state academic standards achieving several Distinction Designations along the way. In fact, the campus received recognition for improvement in all areas and student groups.

As a central office team member, I have had the awesome opportunity to lead departments and individuals in creating and refining systems to improve access and equity to ensure academic success for all student PreK through 12th grade. Currently I serve as the Superintendent of Schools at Buna ISD.

Educational leadership, in my opinion, is not where you stand in the moment of comfort and convenience, but where you stand and respond in the face of adversity. Everywhere I go, I strive to inspire excellence and make a lasting impact on not only students and staff, but entire families and communities.
